In Remembrance of Sister Pius

It is with great sadness that we heard this morning that our dear colleague and friend Sister Pius passed away after a short illness borne with great dignity and bravery.

Sr. Pius was a much loved staff member of Maynooth Education Campus and she will be missed terribly by everyone, student and staff members alike. She joined the staff of Maynooth Post Primary over ten years ago and was an integral part of our Pastoral Care team for the past decade.

Unfortunately her recent illness and COVID-19 restrictions limited her involvement in the school in the past year but she was always on the end of the phone and very much present in our journey over this time. We will especially miss her daily visits to check up on us and keep us in line. She had a wonderful sense of humour and enjoyed the many debates in the staffroom on the various trials and tribulations of Kildare and Meath football.

Indeed her time in the school corresponded with a time when most people would be thinking of retirement but her unfailing energy, determination and commitment to aid and help those most in need is testament to the lady that she was. She had an innate sense of justice and espoused the virtues of equality of opportunity for all in education. Her previous experience as Principal and Director of schools in a large region in Pakistan for nearly four decades gave her that insight and inspired us all.

We are very fortunate to have someone of such character as part of our lives in Maynooth and we extend our greatest sympathy to her family in the Presentation Sisters but also to our immediate family In Nobber, County Meath.

May God now grant her a deserved, eternal and peaceful rest
