Malta Trip

Malta Trip
Malta Visit by TY Students

A group of TY students visited Malta and Gozo for a four day visit over the weekend. They had the opportunity of visiting various different museums and cultural centres places including the war museum and the Grandmaster’s Palace. St John’s Co-cathedral in particular left a lasting impression on them.

They spent a day in Gozo were they went around the old fortifications in Victoria. A highlight of their visit was visiting a live crib in Gozo in which the local people dressed up as different characters to re-create a Bethlehem scene.

The tour helped the students learn more about Malta and its history, in particular Malta’s role in the two world wars.

The students were hosted at the Salesians in Sliema, a beautiful locality close to the sea. Ms. Helen English, International Languages Coordinator, Ms. Jakki Byrnes, TY Coordinator and Fr Richard Ebejer accompanied the group on the trip.

A special word of thanks to Mr. John Nevin, and Ms. Siobhán McCauley, Principals of MPPS and MCC respectively, who supported the initiative, and to Mr Leonard Sacco, Malta’s ambassador to Ireland for facilitating the group’s entry in the various museums.
