Navan Choral and Instrumental Festival is one of the primary Choral Festivals in Ireland. 2019 marks the 40th year of the Choral Festival which will run from 4th to 12th May.
The Choral and Instrumental Festival engages talent from all age groups by hosting competitions for Primary and Post Primary School Choirs, as well as Youth and Adult Choirs. It also hosts solo singing, opera singing and piano recital competitions. In 2018 new instrumental competitions were introduced and provide an opportunity for musicians of diverse genres to showcase their talent, network and further their musical careers.
Maynooth Education Campus have taken part in this competition since 2016.In it's debut year the choir sang Loch Lomond and Alijah Rock taking 3rd place.
The choir won the competition outright in 2017 singing Somebody to Love and My God is a Rock.
In 2018 the Choir took 3rd place again singing ,Bright Morning Stars and Battle of Jericho.
To get placed at all in this competition is an exceptional achievement with 18 choirs taking part each year.
On Thursday May 9th the 80 pupil strong choir,which consists of 1st to 6th Year students will embark on their Journey to Navan singing two beautiful pieces and we wish them and their teachers the very best of luck.The competition begins at 1.30pm.
