St. Brigid's Cross

01-February-22
St. Brigid's Cross
Gabriel Gillspie, Ms.Ryan's husband made this beautiful St. Brigid's Cross for the school in honour of St. Brigid's Day.
Some of the significance around the cross is explained by Gabriel below:
The colours represent all the different backgrounds/viewpoints within the school and their voice/opinion can be seen through their particular colour.
The silver bands tying the legs together represent the clouds which bind all the colours together and also from where the colours are formed and are contained within.
The silver band also represents the education that brings you all together within the school so the cross itself is a visual representation of your schools education as a whole.
Also, we all know the colours of the rainbow and that they’re formed within the clouds and the reason we know this is through education.
I used modern wire to show Ireland as a modern society.
