Both our under 16s and Senior ladies teams continued their build up to their respective Leinster Semi Finals today with a training day in the school and next door at Maynooth University. The girls had a lesson in nutrition and pre match preparation with head of strength and conditioning and sports nutrition in Maynooth University, Stephen Sheeran while also taking part in a pitch session with Kildare Senior Footballer Tommy Moolick. The girls also enjoyed a talk first from Maynooth University footballers Cliodhna McCabe,Emma Cronin and Sarah Boyd on scholarships in the university and the playing opportunities available to all. Followed by former Kildare footballer and 2016 All Ireland winning captain Aisling Holton who spoke excellently to the girls about her experiences on both the good and bad days in Croke Park and also about the importance of achieving and maintaining a school/life/sport balance. A huge thank you to all our contributors today, school caretaking staff and to Maynooth University for the use of their fine facilities for the day.
P.S Congrats also to Eve Conheady who guided (to MsMcWeeney's delight) the Leitrim team to the spoils in the firecly competitive 6 a side super games blitz at the end of the day. Hopefully not the last bit of silverware for Maynooth EC or Leitrim this year!!!
