Maynooth Vs Prosperous
In the first half of the match Maynooth had the advantage of a strong wind. The first score of the game was a beautiful point scored by Maynooth’s Ciana Heneghan after good build up play involving Louise Doran and Laura O'Neill. The next three points were scored by centre half forward Katie Donnellan, all from frees. Prosperous were soon to follow with a hard earned point. There was some great defending by Emily Milner and Rebecca Mullen which is reflected in Prosperous’s low score line. Rebecca Mullen had to be replaced by Claire King due to injury. The deciding period of the game came when Ciana Heneghan scored 2-2 along with a goal from Niamh Murray and a point from Michelle O’Connor. In the last few minutes of the first half Prosperous came back and scored a goal. This left the half time score at 3-7 to 1-1. The second half began with a point from Laura O’Neill. This was then followed by one goal from Ciana Heneghan and another from Aoife Coleman. There were excellent saves from Niamh Coyle in goal. The next score was a point from Michelle O’Connor, which was followed by another score from Niamh Murray the corner forward. Prosperous kept fighting and scored another goal and two points in the last ten minutes. Maynooth then quickly followed with a goal and three points from Ciana Heneghan, Katie Donnellan and Niamh Murray. There were four subs made in this half Aoife Coleman was replaced by Shauna Murray, Rebecca Gisbey was replaced by Anne Lavelle. Alison Tierney was replaced by Jennifer McMahon and Claire King was also replaced by Ciara McMahon. The last score of the match was by Prosperous making the final score 6-12 to 2-4. |
