For the Students who wish to complete the LCE (Leaving Certificate Established), they must select four optional subjects to complete their Senior Cycle studies and sit for examination. They will be sent an online form to complete in the Spring before they are due to go into 5th Year. This form will ask them to indicate their top 6 preferences and a combination of these will be offered to them.
(Note that subjects offered at senior cycle each year are subject to student demand, timetable constraints and staffing availability)

Please note that significant redevelopment of Senior Cycle subjects began in 2025 and these changes are being rolled out over a number of years in tranches.Students should be aware of which subject specifications are changing– please see timeline below.
***NB please note that changes to Accountancy and English have been paused but will commence in 2027
One of the main changes to Senior Cycle subjects is the introduction of AACs (Additional Assessment Components).These will earn students at least 40% of available marks.They will assess a broader range of learning than can be captured through a traditional written examination and they aim to enhance the assessment experience of student.
