The Orchard (Willow and Laurel Classes)

The Orchard (Incorporating the Willow and Laurel Classes)

The Orchard, which incorporates the Willow and Laurel classes are a part of a continuum of educational provision in the school that enable students with more complex special educational needs, such as autism to be educated in a way that caters to their specific needs. These classes offer a supportive learning environment to students who are unable to access the curriculum in mainstream classrooms. The Orchard at Maynooth Post Primary School opened for the first time in the Spring of 2021.

The classes were named after trees to symbolise growth. The Willow tree also symbolises hope, belonging and safety while the Laurel tree has long been associated with achievement. Each of these are values we seek to promote every day.

Academic achievement is important to us but is not our raison d'etre. The Orchard exists to assist students in the development of social & communication skills, life skills and to foster general well-being.
