Letter for parents re School Closure

Dear Parent / Guardian,

Following from our earlier message, the Department of Education has decided that school buildings should remain closed and that the learning will move to remote learning from Monday 11th of January for a three week period. This will include a combination of assigned work and online lessons all of which will be facilitated using one platform, Microsoft Teams. Please ensure your son / daughter can access their school account and that they have saved their login and password in a secure location. If you require support to access teams please email
We will reschedule the school closure days, which were meant to be on Monday the 11th and Tuesday the 12th of January, as we can no longer provide the health and safety and other training that staff need in advance of bringing students to the new buildings.

Teachers and students will follow the existing school timetables and teachers will inform students through teams of when they will have classes and assign work. For any students who may have difficulty accessing online classes, a lesson summary will be provided on teams following the lesson. Those students that receive additional learning support will be contacted via teams by their teachers. In the event that a student should need to contact a teacher, please be mindful that they will be following their school timetable and may not be available outside school hours.

The leaving certificate and junior cycle mock exams will be postponed until after the midterm break. Further information will be sent out shortly.

We are currently in the process of packing up the old building and transferring to our new buildings. We would like to thank most sincerely all of our caretakers, cleaners and administrative staff for all their hard work this week. We will be using this period of closure to further facilitate the transition to the new buildings, so that once lockdown ends we can return to our new buildings.

If you have any queries please email your school Principal:

We hope you and your families stay safe and have continued good health.

Le gach dea-ghuí,

Johnny Nevin
