MEC Buildings update 20th June 2018

A programme for the retender and completion of the project has been agreed with KWETB and the Design Team. The key dates, the key tasks ahead and the associated dates in line with the Design Team programme are set out below.

The key dates are:

Project Assessment – 5th June – 23rd July

  • Initial design team assessments have been completed including a full photographic survey, structural survey & H&S survey.
  • Additional surveys required have been identified by the Design Team and are currently being procured.
  • Tender drawing assessment is ongoing.
  • The project assessment is due to be completed by 23rd July.

Enabling Works 18th June – 18th October

  • During the Design Team assessments the week of the 5th June, the requirement for enabling works to stabilise the wall and roof structure was identified. Contracts have been put in place for these works and the works are now underway on site.
  • Netwatch security system is now operational.
  • Tenders have been issued for additional fencing to the boundary of the site.

Preparation of revised tender documents 24th July – 31st October

  • On completion of the project assessment, including all required surveys, revised tender drawings will be prepared by the design team. The drawings and specification are due to be completed by 4th September.
  • A revised Bill of Quantities will then be prepared, due to be completed, including client review on 31st October.

Prequalification of Contractors 22nd June – 21st August

  • The pre-qualification process will run in tandem with the project assessment and preparation of new tender documents.
  • The e-tenders contract notice will be uploaded to e-tenders by 25th June.
  • The return date for expressions of interest is 23rd July.
  • The assessment of the submissions will be carried out from 24th July to 21st August.

Tender Period 8th November – 28th March 2019

  • Tenders to be issued by 8th November.
  • Tender Return date 13th December.
  • Tender Assessment & report to be completed by 16th January 2019.
  • Contractor appointment – period for insurances/ bond/ letters to unsuccessful contractors etc.. 17th January to 28thMarch.

Based on the above programme we expect a contractor to be back on site by the end of March 2019 with a view to the completion of the works by mid-June 2020.
