Technical Graphics

Technical Graphics is a junior cycle subject where students learn how to create detailed specific drawings. All of Technical Graphics is learned on paper, there is not yet a computer element at junior cycle. It is the longest exam in the junior cert at 3 hours (2 1/2 for ordinary level).

From September 2019 all pupils picking this subject will start the Junior Cycle course called Graphics. Click here to view information on this new subject.

The exam is in two sections, short and long questions.

There are fifteen short questions in section A, of which ten must be answered, gaining a potential 120 marks.

There are 6 long questions in section B, of which four must be answered, gaining a potential 280 marks.

A strong emphasis is placed on neatness and draughtsmanship as each long question includes 10 marks out of 70 for this. A total of 40 out of 400 marks.
